Thesis Statement:

I recommend The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens books to my peers, it’s a great compass to guide them through middle and high school years.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens book guide teens and shapes them into adults. The information Sean Covey gives people is seven characteristics on surviving the world. Sean calls them Habits. People have good and bad ones. Sean gives you tips on how to get rid of the bad ones and introduces you into new ones. One purpose Sean wrote this, was to based it off his father book for adults. Other purpose why he wrote this book and I quote “Problems are real, you can’t turn off real life”

I think the most important theme was Habit 5, Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood. My favorite quote from this habit was “You have two ears and one mouth” That one quote has a lot of meaning behind it and helped me understand the habit more. Key points from this habit was Poor Listening Styles, Mimicking/Mirroring, and Communicating. A benefit of not having poor listening styles is not is judge people so quick, instead walk in their shoes first.  Communication is the key to a health relationship. When you talk, you always have to listen with your ears.”Listen, or thy tongue will make thee deaf”.

This is a great book to read if you're having a hard time identifying yourself. The 7 Habits teaches people things you’ll never forget. For example, “People are just about as happy as they make up their mind to be”. Nobody can make you sad or down. You have that choice to move or jump over obstacles. No one can make that decision for you, but YOU! Life is what you make it. Just make it work for you.
